THIS YEAR WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR 20th ANNIVERSARY OF THE WALK!
The date is Sunday, October 19th. The start point is Ski Butternut on Route 23, and ending at Construct Inc., located at 41 Mahaiwe Street in downtown Great Barrington. Registration will be at 12:00, with the WALK starting at 1:00.
For those of you interested in a longer, more physically challenging WALK, please contact us about the 20K Challenge Walk. A "Getting in Shape" program plan is available for long walkers.
Our fund raising goal this year is $60,000, doubled from last year, because the expected need for assistance has doubled with the rising food and energy costs. The number of people, especially the elderly and disabled on fixed incomes, who will need our support is rapidly swelling.
This year we are seeking out teams to join in the WALK. We are asking individuals to head up a teams, enlisting 19 friends and associates to make up teams of 20. Each team member then asks 10 people to contribute $20 or 20 people to contribute $10. All teams are invited to join in the WALK with hundreds of others on Sunday October 19. Teams may make a sign, wear matching hats, give themselves a name, or simply travel anonymously.
"It only takes two or three friends to notice that they're concerned about the same thing - and then the world begins to change" Margaret Wheatly, Turning to One Another.
With the community coming together we as a group of friends - a very large group of friends - can bear witness to our neighbors' struggles. We can, then, realize how we have all played a significantl part in changing someone's world, as well as our own.
Please join us and help make a difference in someone's life.
